STANDARD USAGE POLICY
Overview
AO strives to provide a constructive environment for discussion of the ownership, operation, and enjoyment of the Augusta RV family of 5th wheels. Above all, we are committed to the safe operation of Augusta RV 5th wheels. We present information via our website and other media to promote discussion among, and for the entertainment of, our members. Naturally, we want members to find the AO website and other media useful and enjoyable. This policy describes a standard of behavior intended to improve the online experience for all AO members. By and large, they are based on common sense notions of good manners and mutual respect. Naturally, we recognize that online interaction brings up unique problems, which are not typical in face to face interactions. When conflicts arise, we rely foremost on our members’ goodwill and good sense to maintain decorum. The guidelines form a basis for adjudicating the more resistant issues. Keep in mind though, as with all participatory media, the ultimate nature of the online experience depends on you: AO members and contributors.
Civility
AO participatory website (forums, etc.) are designed for the exchange of, and the discussion of ideas. Personal attacks (“flaming”) will not be tolerated. Personal attacks are defined as any attempt to short-circuit the discussion by diverting attention to any shortcomings or attributes of the other party or parties in the debate rather than their arguments. We encourage you to challenge other points of view but please do so in a respectful and thoughtful manner.
AO materials are often read by families of members and mixed company. Explicit, obscene or vulgar language or other content, deemed inappropriate by AO Administrators, will be removed. AO members shall avoid posting any of the following content:
- Salacious material – that is, material and/or pictures that are not appropriate for family members or in mixed company;
- Religious discussion – that which goes beyond a mere indication of faith (i.e. We’ll pray for you.)
- Political discussion – that which is directed toward a particular political party, political individual, etc. (however, as always, we WILL permit political discussion that is directly related to AO governance);
- Personal attacks; and/or e. Generally posting in a manner contrary to civility.
As a matter of policy, AO does not preview or approve member content. However, your participation grants AO the right to modify or delete material to conform to these guidelines. For instance, a misplaced post will be relocated to the appropriate forum without notice.
Intellectual Property
Member contributions are intended to be shared within AO. Do not copy, reproduce, or post them outside the AO community without express permission from the author and AO.
Do not post or publish copyrighted materials on AO unless you are the copyright holder. Examples include photographs, news articles, etc. If you don’t own it, please post or embed a link to the content but do not copy or upload it.
By contributing material to AO, you (1) represent that the content of your post is your own material and you have the right to post it, and (2) you grant AO and its administrators and owners a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, distribute, and display all such content in any manner it sees fit, in any media or form, including the right to edit or alter your material without limitation. For example, the material you submit may be used alone or be combined with other material and reproduced on a website, in a magazine article or in any other media.
AO has no obligation to attribute the content to you in any such reproduction.
Forum Posting Best Practices
Use meaningful subject titles. Make it easy for readers to decide whether or not to read your post. Subjects like “Need help” or “Look at this!”, or any that are intentionally vague in order to attract attention, are considered bad form.
Post in the appropriate forum. Read the forum descriptions and choose the forum appropriate to your topic. Posts placed in the incorrect forum may be relocated without notice. Please refer to these guidelines for additional descriptions.
Avoid duplicate posts on the same issue (i.e. spamming). Post your message only once in the most appropriate forum. The desire to reach the largest possible audience is not a valid reason to clutter up the forums. Essentially duplicate posts and the associated thread may be removed without notice.
Use Private Messages (PM’s) for personal messages.
All for-sale or want-to-buy posts shall be placed in the Classified area and shall comply with the guidelines included in the description. For sale items may be closed by an administrator, but the post will remain viewable on the forum so those interested can use PMs to communicate with seller.
Posting public messages and sending private messages for a commercial venture is not permitted. AO sponsors and commercial members shall comply with their specific guidelines with respect to promoting your company’s goods and/or services.
Respect the privacy of fellow members. Certain personal information is available on the online member database. Do not post additional contact or other personal information without permission. This includes information gleaned from Internet searches or other RV’ing sites.
When discussing public figures, e.g., Augusta RV management and/or employees, dealer personnel or campground personnel, accord them the same respect as you would a fellow AO member.
AO provides a “Flagging” feature that permits members to “Like”, “Dislike”, or “Report” a particular post. This feature is intended to promote quality and insightful posting (e.g. Like/Dislike), and further provide a convenient means to alert AO Administrators of inappropriate posts that are contrary to the Terms of Service. Abuse of the “Flagging” feature, such as, but not limited to, using the feature to retaliate or impugn another member’s reputation, may result in removal of the member’s use the feature or termination of the member’s account.
Forum Moderation
Forum software allows readers to flag offending posts through the “Report” function. Moderators may remove the offending language or the post or the thread containing it, inform the originator of an offending post, ask the author to delete the post, or propose another conflict resolution approach.
Forum moderation performed by AO is largely dependent upon member notification, and cannot be considered definitive or consistent. Prior posts that have not been deleted cannot be assumed to be in conformance with AO policy, and do not establish a precedent with respect to any moderation issue.
Discussion of AO policy on moderation may take place in the appropriate forum or, more desirably, using the Private Message function to contact a AO Administrator. Reposting of material deleted or quarantined by moderators, or discussion of moderator action is not allowed.
Failure to comply with the guidelines, or a recurrent pattern of offenses may result in being banned from AO. If you are banned, you forfeit any membership monies you have given to AO.
If you feel that you are being attacked or harassed, avoid retaliating, use the “Report” function and contact an administrator.
Your Identity
AO policy requires that on registering, all applicants shall accurately identify themselves by using their true first and last name, which will appear in their profile. The use of pseudonyms or “handles” is not permitted. AO may, at its sole discretion, require additional proof of identity from members or those seeking membership prior to and/or after activation of an account, which may include, but not limited to, submission of a copy of a photo ID or other material, documentation, or action. Failure to provide any required proof of identity will result in non-activation of a new account and/or deactivation of an existing account.
AO policy requires that registered users and members open or otherwise possess and/or maintain no more than one account. Attempts to circumvent the real name policy and/or attempts to open a second account, such as following account deactivation, may result in closure of all associated accounts and prevention of future access. If a registered user or member is unable to properly log in to their account, please contact the administrators of the site via the Contact option on the main webpage for assistance.
AO policy requires that employees of Augusta RV, the RV Factory, or any company engaged in making or servicing RVs identify themselves by checking the appropriate box(es) in their profile information. AO is interested in open and honest discussion and this policy is designed to assist with avoiding conflicts of interest.
